Windows 10 - How to fix network connection issues

Solution

If you encounter troubles in getting connected to internet, please follow the steps below.

IMPORTANT: In order to continue, please connect a USB keyboard and mouse to your display's media player,
and press [(Start icon or Start)+D] on the keyboard to minimize the directory application and show the Windows Desktop.

1. Use the Network troubleshooter

  • Select Start icon or Press Start icon/Start on the USB keyboard to bring up the Start Menu, then type Network troubleshooter, then select Identify and repair network problems from the list of search results by using the mouse/touchscreen or arrow keys on the keyboard.

  • If that doesn't work and you're using a wired connection, make sure both ends of your Ethernet cable are securely plugged in to your PC and your router or modem.

2. If you fail to connect to Wi‑Fi

  • Make sure Wi‑Fi is turned on. Select the Start Start icon button >select Settings Network & Internet Wi‑Fi to check. If a network you expect to see appears in the list, select the network > Connect.
  • Select the Start Start icon button > select Settings > Network & Internet Airplane mode and turn off airplane mode if it's on.
  • Move closer to the router or access point.

If none of these things work, restart your Wi‑Fi router.

3. Don't see your Wi‑Fi network name?

Make sure your router is set to broadcast the network name:

  • Connect your PC to your router by an Ethernet cable.
  • Open your web browser and type the IP address for your wireless router. (For example, 192.168.1.1 or 172.16.0.0—check the documentation for your router to find the default IP address.)
  • Sign in with your user name and password, then make sure an option labeled Enable SSID BroadcastWireless SSID broadcast, or something similar is turned on. This setting is often on a Wireless Settings page.
